Photoinitiator 819 DW / Omnirad 819 DW CAS 162881-26-7

819 DW is a dispersion of 819 in water, specially used in water-based systems. It is easy to mix into water-based systems and form a stable dispersion.
In white paints, colored paints and inks containing titanium dioxide or other pigments with high hiding power, adding a small amount of 819 DW can make the coating have excellent curing effects and UV yellowing resistance. Because 819 DW has excellent absorption properties, it can be used in thick film systems.
819 DW can be mixed with other photoinitiators, such as 500 and 1173.
Since it also absorbs in the long wave band, 819 DW can be used in conjunction with UV absorbers, such as Sinosorb 1130, so 819 can be used in UV curing coatings that require weather resistance.

Function & Applications:

In the field of adhesives, photoinitiator 819 DW is like a powerful “glue commander”. When it is incorporated, it can make loosely connected materials adhere tightly with just a gentle UV light. It plays an indispensable and crucial role in wood splicing, paper bonding, and metal-plastic combination processes.

From a historical perspective, the development of UV curing technology is like a history of technological evolution. In the early days, traditional curing methods had many limitations in terms of efficiency and effectiveness. However, with the gradual development and improvement of key materials such as photoinitiators, UV curing technology has developed rapidly. The emergence of photoinitiator 819 DW is undoubtedly an important milestone in this process. For example, in the furniture manufacturing industry, the drying time of the coating on the wood surface was long, and it was prone to uneven color. However, since the application of photoinitiator 819 DW to UV-curable varnishes on wood surfaces, the drying time has been greatly reduced, from hours or even days to just a few minutes. In addition, the gloss and hardness of the wood surface have been qualitatively improved, effectively enhancing the durability and aesthetics of the furniture.

In-depth analysis of the data shows that in a number of comparative experiments, the curing speed of paint using photoinitiator 819 DW was on average about 30% faster than that of traditional photoinitiators. This significant difference in data fully demonstrates its great advantage of greatly improving production efficiency in industrial production. In addition, in adhesion tests on surfaces of different materials, its adhesion to plastic surfaces is 20% higher than that of similar products, which means that it can better ensure the stability and durability of the coating in the field of surface coating of plastic products.

According to industry research reports, in recent years, with the increasing demand for environmental protection, UV curing technology has become popular due to its low volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions. As a key component, the market demand for photoinitiator 819 DW is showing a rapid year-on-year growth trend. It is expected that within the next five years, the market size of its global application will more than double.
