Irgacure 1173 (CAS 7473-98-5) Usage

Photoinitiator 1173 is a high-efficiency, non-yellowing ultraviolet photoinitiator. For the UV curing system of unsaturated polyester system and multifunctional monomer, it has the characteristics of low odor, non-yellowing, and good color stability. It can be easily compounded with other photoinitiators. It is recommended to add 1-4%.

The molecule of photoinitiator 1173 has no -H in the benzophenone group neighborhood, has good thermal stability, no substitution benzyl structure during photolysis, good yellowing resistance, and belongs to the initiator of medium curing rate.

The photophysical and chemical properties of photoinitiators are very important for the control of photoinitiation and photopolymerization. They should also have the following properties:

1. It has high extinction coefficient and high free radical/ion yield in ultraviolet and near ultraviolet regions;
2. Non-toxic, tasteless, non-yellowing, non-volatile;
3. Good miscibility with resin, low migration, good storage stability and moderate price.

In fact, many UV curing systems produce active bodies while chemically interacting with other auxiliary components to promote the production of active bodies and enhance the initiation efficiency. These auxiliary components are called co-initiators, sensitizers, and photosensitizers. . The co-initiator is an important component of the bimolecular photoinitiator. In the UV curing technology, the co-initiator is often used as a companion of the initiator to study.
