1. Used in the food industry as a sour agent, color retention agent, preservative and emulsification stabilizer for egg yolk, etc.

2. Used in the pharmaceutical industry for biochemical research, prevention and treatment of radiation sickness, as well as biochemical reagents, complexing agents for heavy metal ions, etc.

3. In the pharmaceutical industry, it is an intermediate of ranitidine and cimetidine, and can also be used as an antidote for paracetamol poisoning.
