Epoxy floor coating additives should be chosen by the failing stage: pigment grinding, wet-film surface control, or cured-film scratch/recoat performance. CHLUMIFE® 3308 is the direct epoxy-floor surface route, CHLUMIFE® 3307X prioritizes scratch leveling with recoat awareness, and CHLUMICRYL® DP-D2641R is the documented solvent-free epoxy color-grind route.
CHLUMIFE® 3166 is removed from the first screen. Its public page warns of pinholes, whitening and foam stabilization—poor default risks for a continuous floor film that must cure, adhere and remain serviceable.

Control concrete and cure before additives
Record concrete strength, age, moisture, vapor pressure, surface profile, contamination, repairs, primer, ambient and slab temperature, dew point, component temperatures, mix ratio, induction, pot life, wet film and cure. Surface additives cannot correct hydrostatic pressure, weak laitance, oil contamination or incorrect hardener ratio.
Use production-representative concrete and the complete primer/bodycoat/topcoat stack. Laboratory metal or glass panels can screen appearance, but they do not prove adhesion to concrete.
Use 3308 for a defined surface-control need
3308 is explicitly positioned for epoxy floor coatings and solvent-based or solvent-free two-component systems. Its page supports leveling, substrate wetting, pinhole prevention, smoothness, gloss, scratch resistance and defoaming assistance.
Those are trial hypotheses, not guaranteed outcomes. Run a blank plus low-to-high ladder and record entrained air, craters, flow, gloss, cure, slip, abrasion, scratch, chemical resistance and repair-coat adhesion. Do not apply it to a waterborne floor without product-specific approval.
Use 3307X when recoat remains important
3307X is intended to improve abrasion and scratch performance after film formation while prioritizing recoatability. Follow the unusual supplier dilution instruction exactly and include solvent contribution in VOC, flash, compatibility and application checks.
Prioritizing recoat does not guarantee repair adhesion. Test the real recoat window after contamination, cleaning and abrasion procedures that will be used on site.
Use DP-D2641R in the pigment grind
DP-D2641R directly documents solvent-free epoxy-floor compound color paint, fast fineness reduction, viscosity reduction, color phase and storage stability. It also covers high-pigment carbon black, organic pigments and matte powder in solvent systems.
Add it to the grind vehicle before pigment. The public dosage table lists ranges for inorganic, organic and carbon-black pigments but does not clearly label the calculation basis; obtain the current TDS before converting the figures into a batch sheet.
Why 3166 is not the floor default
3166 may improve feel and some surface properties, but its page warns that it can cause pinholes or whitening and may stabilize foam. Those warnings conflict with a first-pass epoxy floor shortlist. It should not replace a documented epoxy-specific route or a root-cause investigation.
Qualify wear, adhesion and chemical exposure
ASTM D4060 evaluates abrasion on a plane rigid specimen and requires controlled wheel, load, resurfacing and film construction; relate the ranking cautiously to a real floor. ASTM D7234 measures pull-off adhesion of coatings on concrete and reports the failure plane. ASTM D1308 compares effects such as discoloration, gloss change, blistering, softening or adhesion loss after household-chemical exposure.
Also record cure age, film thickness, wheel/load/cycles, mass and thickness loss, gloss, scratch mode, traction, chemical concentrations/dwell, water, hot-tire pickup, impact and repair adhesion. A single abrasion number is not a floor-service specification.
Run one-variable trials
- Fix resin, hardener, fillers, pigment, mix ratio and temperature.
- Prepare a blank and one compact ladder for one product.
- Measure grind separately from wet-film air and cured-film wear.
- Condition all panels for the same cure time and environment.
- Advance only candidates that pass adhesion, traction, chemical and repair gates.
Evaluate traction in the service condition, including dry, wet, contaminated and cleaned states where applicable. A lower-friction surface can feel smooth and resist visible scratching yet create an unacceptable safety result. Fix the test method, footwear or slider, contaminant, temperature and acceptance limit before comparing additives.
