Product Description
Cellulase is produced from selected high-quality strains such as Trichoderma reesei through fermentation, extraction, purification and formulation. Cellulase is a complex enzyme system that degrades cellulose through the synergistic action of multiple enzymes, breaking complex cellulose molecules down into short fibers, cellobiose, glucose and other small-molecule substances. The multicomponent enzyme system in cellulase includes exo-beta-1,4-glucanase and endo-beta-1,4-glucanase. Endo-beta-glucanase can randomly cleave beta-1,4 glycosidic bonds within cellulose molecules, thereby degrading long-chain cellulose molecules into shorter cellulose fragments. Exo-beta-glucanase acts progressively from the non-reducing ends of cellulose, cleaving beta-1,4 glycosidic bonds to produce cellobiose. Finally, beta-glucosidase further breaks cellobiose down into glucose, completing the degradation of cellulose. These three enzymes perform distinct roles and work synergistically during cellulose degradation to ensure efficient cellulose breakdown. Cellulase is widely used in food, fruit juice, traditional Chinese medicine extraction, feed, textiles, papermaking, detergents, fuel ethanol and other industries.
Application Information
In corn starch production, cellulase can promote the separation of cellulose and starch and improve starch yield. In the feed industry, cellulase can effectively degrade cellulose in plant cell walls, improving feed digestibility and nutritional value. In the textile industry, cellulase is used for vintage finishing of denim and biopolishing of cotton fabrics. It removes or reduces surface fuzz, reduces pilling, improves fabric softness and breathability, and makes fabrics brighter. In the papermaking industry, cellulase is used in nearly every stage of pulp and paper production, including biopulping, bleaching, deinking and paper-property improvement. It can reduce the use of bleaching chemicals, lower the pollution load of bleaching wastewater, reduce refining energy consumption and improve pulp strength.
Identifier note: Acid cellulase is a multi-enzyme system. EC 3.2.1.4 shown above is the principal cellulase activity. References: IUBMB Enzyme Nomenclature and EFSA. iubmb.qmul.ac.uk/enzyme/EC3/2/1/4.html
