2100 vs 3501 vs 3062 is not a ranking of three interchangeable printing-ink additives. Longchang currently has two live records with different brand-family names for a similar 2100 wetting grade. CHLUMIAG® 3501 is a release/anti-sticking candidate with no public dose. CHLUMIAF® 3062 is a documented printing-ink defoamer. Confirm the exact 2100 identity, choose the failure, then test one route at a time.

Resolve the 2100 product identity before purchasing
Two distinct live product records conflict: one page is titled CHLUMIAG® 2100, while another is titled CHLUMIWE® 2100. The public site therefore does not establish one unambiguous current brand identity. Use the neutral term “2100 wetting grade” and put the product code, commercial name, TDS revision and COA on the sample request so the lab and supplier evaluate the same material.

Choose 2100 for a measured wetting failure
Use 2100 when an ink retracts, beads or transfers unevenly on a verified difficult substrate. Its page supports spreading, wetting and penetration on polyethylene, polypropylene, polyester and high-smoothness packaging surfaces. Start low within 0.1–1.0% and keep substrate treatment, viscosity, ink deposit, drying and press settings constant.
Measure density, pinholes, dot/line quality, tape adhesion, rub and overprint or lamination compatibility. Better wetting does not prove stronger adhesion; weak binder/substrate affinity or decayed corona treatment must be corrected separately.
Keep 3501 behind a data gate
3501 may fit a blocking or release complaint, but its public page provides no recommended dosage and no defined pressure/temperature/time test. Ask for the current TDS, starting dose, compatible vehicle classes and a reproducible block or release protocol. Until those items are available, it is not suitable for a blind equal-dose comparison.
First exclude incomplete drying or cure, retained solvent/water, warm rewinding, excessive roll hardness and high storage temperature. An additive cannot repair an under-dried ink and may change coefficient of friction, intercoat adhesion or seam behavior.
Use 3062 when air is the root cause
3062 is the best documented route for foam: its page gives 0.1–0.5% of total formulation for printing inks and supports waterborne, solvent and UV systems. Identify whether air enters during grinding, pumping, chamber circulation, doctoring or high-speed transfer. Compare foam height or density at fixed times and printed pinholes at equal ink delivery.
If solvent dilution is used, the page requires stability and defoaming-performance checks first. Record diluent, ratio, order of addition, shear and aging. Reject a dose that reduces foam but creates craters, density loss or storage instability.
Prepare controlled prints
ASTM D6687 is a current guide to testing printing-ink vehicles and their components. Build the trial around the actual process—flexo, gravure, screen, offset or inkjet—and use one unchanged control. Fix substrate lot, treatment, viscosity, deposit, drying/curing and conditioning before comparing additives.

Normalize printed density before ranking surface results
ASTM D7305 describes reflection-density measurement for printed matter on paper, film or board. Use the same density target before comparing gloss, rub or defects; otherwise, different ink transfer can look like an additive effect. The method is not intended for metal or foil.
Measure rub and blocking separately
ASTM D5264 provides a comparative Sutherland rub practice for printed materials. Fix receptor, load, cycles and conditioning. Blocking needs a separate pressure/temperature/time simulation matched to rewind, stack or converted-pack storage. A product can improve release while worsening rub, so approve both.
Packaging and label compliance still requires documents
None of these public pages establishes food-contact, pharmaceutical-contact, low-migration or destination-market compliance. Map direct contact, indirect contact, set-off and migration risk; request applicable compositional declarations and validate the finished construction. Performance on a label or package is not regulatory evidence.
Selection rules
- Select the 2100 wetting grade for documented substrate wetting only after the supplier confirms its exact identity, TDS and COA.
- Select 3062 for measured printing-process foam within its published ink dose.
- Do not screen 3501 until a dose and quantified blocking/release protocol are supplied.
- Reject every candidate that improves one symptom but harms density, adhesion, rub, conversion or compliance.
