OTM Usage
1. Catalyst: Otm can be used as an organotin catalyst for organic synthesis reactions such as esterification, cyclisation and condensation.
2. Preservatives: Otm can be used as an additive for metal anti-corrosion coatings to improve their corrosion resistance.
3. Plastic additives: Otm can be used as plastic additives to improve the heat resistance and light resistance of polymers.
4. lubricant: Otm can also be used as a lubricant to provide lubricating properties on the surface of materials.
5. It has good fluidity and strong thermal stability. It is suitable for calendering, extrusion and injection moulding of PVC food packaging rigid film and sheet. It is one of the heat stabilisers for PVC.

Mechanism of action of PVC heat stabilisers
1) Absorption and neutralisation of HCL, inhibiting its autocatalytic effect. This kind of stabiliser includes lead salts, organic acid metal soap, organotin compounds, epoxy compounds, phenol salts and metal thiol salts. They can react with HCL, inhibit the reaction of PVC off HCL.
2) Replacement of unstable allyl chloride atoms in the PVC molecule to inhibit the removal of PVC, such as organotin stabilizers and PVC molecules of unstable chlorine atoms occurring coordination bond, in the ligand, organotin and unstable chlorine atoms are replaced.
3) Addition reaction with polyene structure, destroy the formation of large conjugate system, reduce the colouring. Unsaturated acid salts or esters contain double bonds, and the conjugated double bonds in the PVC molecule undergo a bis-alkene addition reaction, thus destroying its conjugated structure and inhibiting colour change.
4) Capture free radicals and prevent oxidation reaction. Such as the addition of phenolic heat stabiliser can block off HCL, is due to the phenol given H atom radicals can be coupled with the degradation of PVC macromolecular radicals, the formation of substances that can not react with O2, and has a heat stabilizing effect. This kind of heat stabiliser can have one or several functions.
