CHLUMICRYL® WPU-5130 Anionic Waterborne Polyurethane Resin

CHLUMICRYL® WPU-5130 is an anionic aliphatic polyurethane dispersion for hard-film protective coatings. Supplied at 32% solids, it is positioned for water resistance, toluene resistance and resistance to yellowing. The grade also supports a smooth, glossy appearance and adhesion, with suitability determined in the intended coating formulation.

Description

Product Overview

CHLUMICRYL® WPU-5130 is a waterborne polyurethane binder for coatings that need a hard film and resistance to water, yellowing and thermal exposure. It is supplied as a translucent liquid at pH 7-9. The product information highlights smoothness, gloss and adhesion, together with resistance to toluene. A reported warm-water exposure result can guide laboratory screening, but it does not replace qualification of the finished coating. Formulators should establish substrate preparation, drying and film thickness before evaluating resistance. No numerical hardness or continuous service-temperature rating is assigned, so selection should rely on application-specific testing rather than a broad performance guarantee.

Grade Characteristics

  • Hard-film coating profile
  • Water and toluene resistance profile
  • Smooth, glossy film appearance
  • Adhesion and resistance to yellowing

  • Protective coatings requiring water resistance
  • Coatings requiring resistance to yellowing
  • Coating development involving thermal exposure

Formulation and Handling

Qualify the dried film under the actual water, solvent and temperature exposure conditions.

Confirm compatibility with other binders and additives before production.

Review the current SDS before handling.

  • Product information reports no whitening after one hour in 60 °C water; film thickness, curing conditions and the full test method are not specified. Verify this performance in the finished coating.
  • Hard film character is qualitative, and no continuous service-temperature rating is given.

Check binder compatibility, substrate preparation, application conditions and final coating or bond performance in your own formulation. Waterborne use does not by itself establish solvent-free status or a hazard classification. Consult the current safety data sheet and use appropriate industrial handling controls.

Packaging and Storage

50 kg or 120 kg plastic drums.

Store at 5-35 °C in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place. Protect from freezing and sunlight. Stated storage period: 12 months.
