| Numero CAS | 9025-41-6 |
| EC No. | Not uniquely assigned |
Product Description
Keratinase is produced from selected high-quality strains such as Bacillus licheniformis through fermentation, extraction, purification and formulation. It exhibits disulfide-bond-hydrolyzing and peptide-hydrolyzing activities and can efficiently degrade keratin, prolamins and other proteins. It is widely used in animal feed, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, textiles, leather processing, detergents and other industries.
Application Information
Keratinase is a specialized alkaline serine endoprotease that can efficiently disrupt disulfide bonds and degrade keratin. It has broad substrate specificity and can degrade not only common protein substrates such as casein, collagen and hemoglobin, but also keratinous substrates such as feathers, wool, silk, claws, beaks, hooves and horns. In the animal feed industry, keratinase can be used in the production of protein ingredients or directly as a feed additive to improve feed digestion and absorption. In agriculture, it can be used to produce amino-acid organic fertilizers, enabling the high-value utilization of low-value protein by-products. In leather processing, it is used mainly for dehairing and offers a greener and safer alternative to conventional lime-sulfide dehairing. In textiles, it can be used for wool weight reduction and fining, as well as silk degumming.
Identifier note: Keratinase is a functional class of enzyme preparations defined by keratin-degrading activity, and preparations from different sources may correspond to different protease activities. CAS 9025-41-6 is shown for generic keratinase. No unique EC number is assigned because the specific enzyme activity was not identified in the supplied material.
Documentation, Storage and Safety
Packaging format, net weight, storage conditions and shelf life depend on the supplied grade. Enzyme proteins may cause respiratory or skin sensitization. Avoid inhaling powder, droplets or aerosols and use appropriate local ventilation and personal protective equipment. Request the current TDS, COA and SDS before handling or production use.
