1. Pesticide/Herbicide Synthesis
As a key chiral intermediate, it is used in the synthesis of optically pure aryloxypropionic acid herbicides (such as aryloxyphenoxypropionic acid herbicides), plant growth regulators, and some fungicides.
2. Pharmaceutical Intermediates
Used in the synthesis of optically active drugs and their intermediates, for example, in the preparation of D-alanine and its derivatives, ibuprofen, and some alkoxy ketone analogs.
3. Water Treatment Chemicals
Due to its high flocculation and stability, it can be used as a flocculant and coagulant in water treatment and wastewater treatment processes.
4. Polymers and Functional Materials
• Polymerization reactions: Used as a raw material to prepare initiators for atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP), such as 2-chloropropionic acid propargyl ester.
• Biomaterials: Used in the synthesis of biologically active chitin derivatives, such as (1-carboxyethyl)chitosan.
