UV Stabilizers – UV Absorber & Hindered Amine Light Stabilizers
UV stabilizers contains two types of light stabilizers: Ultraviolet Light Absorbers (UVA) and Hindered-Amine Light Stabilizers (HALS), used individually or as blends. UVA filters harmful UV light and help prevent color change and delamination of coatings, adhesives, and sealants. HALS trap free radicals once they are formed and are effective in retaining surface properties such as gloss and preventing cracking and chalking of paints. The combination of these two families is highly synergistic.

UV-P: is 2-(2H-benzotriazol-2-yl)-4-methylphenol. Acts as a UV absorber. It belongs to the hydroxyphenyl benzotriazole group and imparts good photostability to a wide range of polymers. Provides strong absorption of UV radiation in the 300-400 nm range. Exhibits high photostability under prolonged exposure. Provides UV protection in a wide range of polymers including styrene homopolymers and copolymers, engineering plastics (e.g. polyesters and acrylics), PVC and other halogen-containing polymers and copolymers (e.g. vinylidene), acetals and cellulose esters. Also suitable for polycarbonate blends, polyurethanes and epoxy materials. The dosage of UV-P ranges from 0.1% to 0.5%, depending on the substrate and performance requirements of the final application.
UV- 783: is a synergistic blend of UV- 944 and UV- 622. It is particularly suitable for LDPE, LLDPE, HDPE films, adhesive tapes and thick profiles as well as PP films.UV-783 is also the product of choice for thick-walled parts requiring indirect food contact approval. Its application areas include polyolefins (PP, PE), olefin copolymers (e.g. EVA) and blends of polypropylene with elastomers and PA. The recommended dose is 0.05-1.4 per cent.
UV- 123: is a liquid HALS stabiliser based on amino ether functional groups. Its low alkalinity prevents interaction with acidic coating components such as catalysts.UV- 123 improves the weathering properties of the polymer.
UV- 292: is a liquid Bis (1,2,2,6,6-pentamethyl-4-piperidinyl) sebacate and 1,1,2,2,6,6-pentamethyl-4-piperidinyl sebacate. Used as a Hindered Amine Light Stabiliser (HALS).
