Aplicativo
The Omnicat 250 is a shining star in the vast field of industrial applications, with unique and diverse uses. It can be used on its own or in combination with suitable photosensitizers such as thioxanthone, and plays an important role in UV-curable inks and varnishes on surfaces made of different materials such as paper, metal, wood, plastic and adhesives. This property is like a master key that opens the door to the surface treatment of a wide range of materials.
Historically, in the early days of industrial production, the surface treatment technology of materials was relatively simple. The emergence of UV curing technology was already a major breakthrough, and products with multiple functions like 250 have further promoted the development of the industry. For example, in the printing of some ancient books, the ink curing quality on the paper surface was uneven. With the application of products like 250, not only has the ink curing effect been improved, but the shelf life of the books has also been extended.
When 250 is used in conjunction with alpha-hydroxy ketones, it is as if a super-accelerator is installed in the curing process. In actual production, we can see that the linear speed has been greatly increased while the surface curing effect has reached a near-perfect level. This improvement is of great significance for modern large-scale industrial production. For example, in a high-speed printing production line, it can ensure product quality in a very short period of time, which greatly improves production efficiency and economic benefits.
In the graphic arts sector, especially in imaging applications such as flexo and screen inks and white primers, the value of 250 is immeasurable. This reminds us of the printing of those exquisite art posters, where every color and every line needs precise ink curing to achieve the best results, and 250 plays a key role. Moreover, 250 also excels in adhesive applications, whether it is used in the construction industry to bond new materials or in the electronics industry to attach tiny precision parts.
It is worth mentioning that Omnicat 250 has excellent curing properties in pigmented coatings and inks with high pigment content, even at low concentrations, and with rutile titanium dioxide or colored pigments. The low yellowing is negligible when sufficient UV radiation is present, which reflects its highly stable chemical properties. In these pigment systems, the combination of photosensitizer and Omnicat 250 is the key to ensuring the effect, just like two dancers who work together in perfect harmony.
In addition, Omnicat 250’s excellent absorption properties are second to none, and it can cure thick coatings, a feature that is crucial in some special industrial scenarios. This ability is brought to the extreme when combined with the appropriate photosensitizer. We can assume that in the shipbuilding industry, the curing of thick protective paint on the hull of a ship, if done using 250, may better resist the erosion of seawater and prolonged sunlight, extending the life of the ship.
Finally, it should be emphasized that the properties of formulated products are affected by the reactive monomers, oligomers and additives actually used. This requires the manufacturer to carefully blend these ingredients according to specific production needs and conditions when using 250 to achieve the best product results. Just like cooking, the proportions of each ingredient determine the taste and quality of the final dish.
Recommended Addition levels
The amount of 250 required for optimum performance should be determined in trials covering a concentration range :
white base coatings 1.5 – 3.0 %
flexo inks 1.5 – 4.0 %
screen inks 1.5 – 3.0 %
overprint varnishes 1.0 – 1.5 %
as supplied, in combination with 0.5 – 0.7 % of a photosensitizer, e.g., thioxanthones.
Embalagem
250 is available in 20 Kg cans.
Storage & Handling
250 is sensitive to visible light and any exposure to sunlight should be avoided. Opened containers should be closed after use to protect the product against light and moisture. In the presence
of certain vinyl ethers, the stability of 250 can be adversely affected if the formulation is exposed to elevated temperatures. Avoid contact with alkaline additives and water.
Subject to appropriate storage under the usual storage and temperature conditions, our products are durable for at least 24 months.
250 should be handled in accordance with good industrial practice. Further information is provided in the material safety data sheet which is available on request.
