Dissolves silver halide on photographic film; its ammonium salt is more efficient than the sodium salt, requiring shorter washing times and facilitating easier silver recovery.

Primarily used in cyanide-free silver plating, acting as a complexing agent to bind with silver ions, resulting in fine-grained plating and good coverage.

3. Metal Treatment Agent
Used as a metal cleaning agent and as a casting protective agent for aluminum-magnesium alloys.
