methyl anthranilate Application scenarios
1. Fragrance Industry
Fragrances for Daily Use: Used in the formulation of floral and fruity perfumes, as well as fragrances for cosmetics, soaps, and detergents. It has a rich, grape-like fruity aroma and is also naturally found in plant essential oils such as jasmine and orange blossom.
Fragrances for Food: Widely used in the blending of fruit flavorings such as grape, strawberry, watermelon, and citrus. It is an essential raw material for the formulation of artificial orange oil. The recommended concentration in final food products is approximately 0.2–2200 mg/kg.
Synthetic Advanced Flavors: Can react with aldehydes to produce more stable and more intensely aromatic Schiff bases, such as the flavoring product marketed as Aurantiol. This type of reaction expands its application in high-end fragrances.
2. Industrie alimentaire
Food Additives: As food flavorings, they are listed in the permitted list of food additives in China’s “Standards for the Use of Food Additives” (GB 2760). Commonly used in beverages, candies, ice cream, baked goods, and alcoholic beverages.
Sweetener Intermediates: Can be used as an intermediate in the production of saccharin. This is part of its fine chemical applications.
3. Industrie des colorants
Dye intermediates: Used in the manufacture of azo dyes, anthraquinone dyes, and indigo dyes. Dyes that can be produced include Disperse Yellow GC, Disperse Yellow 5G, Reactive Brown K-B3Y, Neutral Blue BNL, etc.
4. Pharmaceutical Industry
Pharmaceutical intermediates: Key raw materials for the synthesis of many drugs. They can be used to manufacture:
– Antiarrhythmic drugs: Mefenamic acid, Diclofenac sodium
– Vitamins: Vitamin L
– Central nervous system drugs: Methaqualone, Teldenolone
5. Pesticide Industry
Pesticide intermediates: Used as raw materials for the production of certain pesticides.
New agricultural formulations: Studies indicate their potential for antimicrobial activity and prevention of fruit frost damage and pests.
6. Other Chemical Fields
Chemical analysis reagents: Can be used as complexing reagents for determining metal ions such as cadmium, cobalt, mercury, magnesium, nickel, lead, zinc, and cerium; when used with 1-naphthylamine, it can be used to determine nitrite. Organic synthesis intermediates are widely used in the synthesis of other fine chemicals.
Research standards can be used as reference materials for quantitative analysis, quality control, and biochemical experimental research.
